For some source systems, your previous provider will give you a link and credentials to access your data. In which case, simply forward these to our team so we can download your data and files.
For other source systems, Mercury will provide you with a location to transfer your data. We will provide you with an Azure Blob Storage container which you can access using Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer. Please find below instructions on how to access this and carry out the data transfer to our team.
Prerequisites
Our team will need to send you a SAS URL. Please request this from your Mercury Project Manager if you do not have this.
Important Tips for Transferring Data
Organise your files into folders with meaningful names. For backups, use descriptive names that include the date. This helps distinguish between different backup sets, like the initial backup transfer and the final top-up transfer.
Use compressed database backups and place files into a zip container before uploading them to storage to reduce transfer time.
Avoid copying over existing backups. If you need to send additional backups, put them in new folders. Copying over existing files is more time-consuming and costly. It's faster and cheaper to create new copies in new folders.
Note the total time taken for each backup transfer. This is useful for future transfers, especially when time is limited for the final top-up backups. An unexpected delay could cause the Go-Live date to be postponed.
Azure Storage Explorer Instructions
Download and install Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer
Click on the Open Connect Dialog icon on the left panel and select Blob container or directory
Then select Shared access signature URL (SAS) and click Next
Copy and paste the SAS URL provided by our team into the Blob container SAS URL field. The Display name will automatically populate. Click on Next when done.
A summary will be displayed, click on Connect and the container will now be linked.
You can access the blob container under Local & Attached > Storage Accounts > (Attached Containers) > Blob Containers.
Files can be copied and pasted (or dragged) into the container.
That's it! Should you require any assistance with the data transfer using Azure Storage Explorer then please contact your Mercury Project Manager.
