Config Option: Contact Mandatory Tags

Understand the config option for contact mandatory tag control boxes.

Feature Overview

Mandatory Tags in Mercury ensure that users apply certain tags to Candidate or Client contacts based on details like Location, Work Status, or Specialism. When enabled, this feature makes Mercury Search more powerful by allowing you to filter results using those tags.

Mandatory tags are displayed on the General tab of the Contact record. The tags that are mandatory are noted with a red asterisk * and what's available to choose from has been defined by your organisation:

Purpose

Tags applied to Contact records are all then available to filter your searches within Mercury Search:

Defaults and Considerations

  • There is no default for this however the maximum number of control boxes is 5.
  • The maximum number of tags that can be surfaced in these boxes is 20.

To Enable or Amend this Feature

  • Specify the naming convention for the tag control boxes (Parent tag) and how many boxes you need.
  • Do you want users to enter a minimum number of tags (between 1–20)? If yes, provide the number.
  • Do you want to set a maximum number of tags displayed under each tag box (up to 20)? If yes, provide the number.
